Open Eye Gallery is situated in the heart of Edinburgh's historic New Town, equidistant between Scotland's National and Portrait Galleries. Its extensive programme mounts some 32 exhibitions a year, focusing on contemporary, fine and applied art, while its sister gallery, Eye Two, specialises in modern European and American printmaking. Previous exhibitions in the gallery have included works by Le Corbusier, Miro and Chagall, alongside contemporaries Blake, Aitchison and Rauschenberg. You'll also catch a glimpse of a Picasso if you keep your eyes peeled.

In line with its declaration of committment to the promotion of young contemporary artists as well as those who are somewhat more established, the gallery exhibits a wide selection of art which straddles everything from the classic to the truly avant-garde. Every exhibition comes with a side-order of applied art, where you'll find extensions into sculpture, jewellery and ceramics.

All making it well worth a wee visit, we reckon.
