Blackfriars Basement

Ahhh, real ale. Blackfriars may be a gastro-pub in the heart of Glasgow's Merchant City, but don’t let that put you off – for where it may lack much of the gloss and extraneous gubbins of other bars nearby, instead there's a jolly and cosy atmosphere. There's a reason old-man pubs are catching on, after all. 

They boast five real ales on tap at any one time, rotated two or three times a week - so if you want to stay in the loop it's worth swinging by and requesting a sample from the charming bar staff. The venue has a split-level layout with a great array of pub grub upstairs, whilst downstairs the bar stocks enough local and international beer to float a battleship.

Basically what we're saying here is that Blackfriars is pretty much perfection in our eyes. A diverse programme of live events including club nights, live music and comedy is but the cherry a-top.
