Paper Gallery

Specialising in just one artistic medium may be seen as a bold move, especially at a gallery, but that is the main focus of Manchester's Paper Gallery. Paper aims to close the gap between artist and audience by offering accessible and affordable artwork on show, as long as that work is on some form of 'paper' — whether that's a sketch, photography, paint, collage or cardboard. The gallery gives opportunities to lesser-known and local artists over six-week residency slots, ensuring its programme is as dynamic and diverse as possible. Paper aims to help sell the work they display too, at affordable prices to help both the audience and the visitors. The gallery also runs Paper Magazine, giving an insight into the latest work at the gallery as well as the interests of the latest artists in residency. Currently the gallery is only open on Saturdays, but appointments can be made for private viewings. [Charlotte Davies]
