Thanks to the annual Fringe festival, Edinburghians are really quite open minded when it comes to staging shows. There have been shows in caves, shows in cafes, shows on buses. Heck, there's even that old chestnut in which some audience of poor souls are dragged up Arthur's Seat in a summer rain shower to watch a slo-mo Shakespeare sketch show or something.

Thanks to this appreciation of - erm, unorthodox - venue choices, the city now boasts some pretty imaginative and dynamic venue options, including the notable Assembly Roxy.

Formerly the Lady Glenorchy's Church, the Roxy, is open year-round as well as during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Roxy Central is the former church space which is a flexible hall suitable for theatre shows, events, weddings and ceilidhs. while the upstairs theatre seats up to 200 in a raked set up - ideal for performances, screenings or talks. The snug bar in the basement also provides a great space for gigs or small parties.
