The Art School Union
Anyone in Glasgow whose memories are missing a few Thursday nights will know that currently, the old GSA Union is quite literally an empty shell of the legendary venue it became after closing its doors in June 2010.
One thing the Art School Union on Sauchiehall Street isn’t trying to do is replace The Vic’s sweat-drenched corridors. Instead, the emphasis has been placed on creating a innovative new space for all. Since opening, GSA students and others have built a community inside the venue accessible to everyone – expect free gigs, exhibitions, film screenings, workshops, pool tournaments, etc.
On top of this, the new menu is full of temptations at what are essentially union prices for everyone. Burrito aficionados can get involved for two fifty, and put out the fire with a one fifty Tennents. Plus, those Triple Sec hot chocolates are a godsend in the winter. They've also recently introduced a night-time bistro menu, and a weekend brunch menu.
