The Old Hairdressers
The Old Hairdressers is an independent arts centre situated on Renfield Lane opposite Stereo. The interior hasn't been decorated, simply stripped back to reveal the buildings original design. The exposed brick, bare light bulbs and lavish cornice create a stark yet elegant setting for the ground floor bar. Here they serve a modest but well chosen selection of spirits and draft that can be enjoyed at the mismatching tables looking out on to the lane or up the wooden staircase in the mezzanine. The top floor is the main 'space', a large empty room that is used for exhibitions, installations, meetings and performances. The Old Hairdressers intend the areas to be flexible and easy to book – so if any of the rooms excite you, they can be yours for your event. This laid back approach has ensured The Old Hairdressers is hosting a range of exhibitions, screenings and performances most nights of the week.
