Gambetta
Two-tiered Gambetta is the new, intriguing venture of Gordon Richardson, godfather of the illustrious Beanscene enterprise. With a cafe/bar area at street level and a performance/installation space in the basement, Gambetta has the ambitious task of creating a networking hub for local artists and creatives. Staffed entirely by musicians, artists and DJs who double up as booking agents, Gambetta aims to promote collaborations amongst its creative customers whilst entertaining the rest of us with acoustic sets, exhibitions, comedy and anything else art wise that passes stringent quality controls. There’s also a scrumptious selection of grazing food, coffee, alcoholic and iced drinks, yum!

Report to moderatorPersonal attacks on Gordon Richardson aside, as an informed customer what did you think of Pico, Libertine and Cafe Luna Susannah?
Was never in Libertine or Cafe Luna but was a regular customer in Pico which I thought was exceptional and of course with Beanscene he was light years ahead of the curve and defined the genre, certainly in Scotland.
Gambetta? I'm going to have to check it out I thinkPosted by | Wednesday September 2010 @ 23:02
Report to moderatorWas at the Gambetta opening a couple of weeks ago and it rocked almighty. Beautiful place, absolutely packed, two great live bands in the basement and DJs upstairs in the bar. Have been back a couple of times since to eat - the food is fantastic and very reasonably priced and I would have to say the burgers are very possibly the best i've ever tasted.

Report to moderatorSusannah clearly has an issue with Mr Richardson but regardless of your views of the man personally, there is no denying he knows how to get a vibe going.
Gambetta is without doubt the best place I've been in in eons, perhaps since Beanscene in it's heyday in fact - only with the added bonus of a full liquor licence. Relaxed environment, fantastic staff (they really are friendly, efficient and enthusiastic), great reasonably priced food and the music is outrageously good. They even have a fantastic vinyl selection which customers can browse and play.
Glasgow really needs GambettaPosted by | Wednesday September 2010 @ 00:34
Report to moderatorwith the exception of hannah it looks like the other 3 are either close friends or employees of gordon, i have visited all his previous units including this one and dont know where they are getting these glowing opinions of distinctly below average offerings, i think they all need to get out more and visit some of the fantastic new bars in glasgows ever evolving social scene, the game has moved on and we are all tired of listening to Mr Richardsons self obsessed rubbish and if i hear about him coming up with another one of his so called "brands" i think i may just puke.
