Islington Mill, Manchester

There can be very few aspirations unticked on the underground-music To-Do list  now that Islington Mill - a former cotton-spinning mill converted into a cracklingly trendy gallery space and recording studio - has made the leap from fledgling venue to reinvigorated club space.
The gig venue is only one small part of the Mill's growing empire of creativity, but with appearances from The Whip, Diane Cluck and The Thermals and monthly-staged "Club Brenda", it makes its musical mark. Not as central as some Manchester club staples, but who hasn't wanted to party in an art gallery?
