The Deaf Institute
Quirky-sexy venue split over three floors, with most of the fun happening in the ground floor's converted theatrical ballroom. Bedecked in kitsch wallpaper and pleasingly odd decorative accents (look out for the birdhouse which straddles the divide between interior and exterior wall coverings) The Deaf Institute is hugely popular with the indie-electro crowd thanks to its corresponding range of club nights, but there's plenty of gigging opportunities for both nationally-known and local, aspiring bands and artists. Part of the Trof pub'n'grub chain, by day the Institute dishes up hale and hearty main meals at student-friendly prices.
Absolutely worth a visit, for the day-time food as much as the nightly frivolities.
