The Saint
Latest addition to St Stephen Street's still blossoming social scene. Set in the basement, but with effective light and airy interior, there's an all day food menu and good selection of local cask ales. Also acting as gallery space.

Add a comment »This is a nice place for a drink, but don't at all costs consider eating here. The food was expensive, but more importantly this was the worst food I've ever been served in Edinburgh, at any price. An attempt a dress up cheap ingredients as quality ingredients merely highlights to the diner that the kitchen was established from a cost not quality basis, acceptable in a budget establishment but not at £10p/p for a lunchtime main. Stockbridge has many wonderful eateries, this is not one of them. Avoid.

The worst food in Edinburgh? Some perspective needs to be taken here - I've eaten in The Saint on a couple of occasions, and I found that in both instances my meal was quite nice, if admittedly not dazzling.
But to say that it's the worst food you've ever had in Edinburgh is rather over the top.

Report to moderatorNot the worst food in edinburgh but definitely not the best. Eaten here before and found small portions, highish prices and not great quality. Some of the menu seemed a bit contrived. Place is nice enough, but a bit confused, and in need of atmosphere.

Report to moderatorVery arrogant owner. Probably best leave this ginger and bearded guy to himself. Shame - great concept. Poor execution.

Report to moderatorI read a good review on this place so gave it a shot. It is really good and pretty cheap, none of the above reviews seem to refer to the place I ate in. A Ginger Bearded owner though? Thats a bit off putting as I just can't stand gingers as there is something satanic about titian hair.

Report to moderatorI've been in this pub many times and never encountered arrogant staff. In contrast I have always found the staff friendly and helpful. The place takes dogs and serves good food at reasonable Edinburgh City Centre prices. Not stellar food but good food. Good wine list and great open fire.
Well worth a try if you are in the area.
