Lovely cafe and gallery that takes extra pride in its coffee and crepe skills. Exhibitions on a 4-6 week basis promote the rising graduate talent from the local art schools. Free Wi-Fi and high vaulted ceilings make this a social or work place of habit.
We don't know about any upcoming events at Kilau .

i found the staff very unpleasant. I got the impression the were laughing at me as i went in and as i approached the counter to order...the pair of, a ginger lassie if i remember correctly and a lanky male, appeared to be prentending to do a crossword whilst sniggering as if laughing at my expense. the fact they were standing doing nothing was weird when maybe they could have came up and asked if we wanted to order. when i ordered their manner was far from warm and welcoming.
the food was over priced. the salad tasted unwashed..i felt ripped off unwelcome and angry at the attitude and pretentious nature of the place.
funnily enough...i amnot the only one to feel like the staff are passing judgement and laughing like the are part of some clique....alot of people i know who or have been there feel the same. they apparently have lpans to open up a place on campus....good luck with those prices.
What a shame that you got that impression. Every time I have gone into Kilau, they have been nothing but welcoming.
I have also been witness to them doing crosswords at the counter, however, when all the cleaning/serving is done, perhaps they just need a well deserved break. Fair enough, their prices aren't the cheapest in the world, but quite frankly, I have never been disappointed with my order and so I am happy to pay and support them. The staff banter is always good too!
I really think that if you felt that strongly, you should have spoken to them directly, rather than venting your anger on here. We should be supporting our local businesses. It's been there for 6 years now, so it is clearly doing something right for a lot of people.
PS For your info, the new Kilau at campus is fantastic and I've heard nothing but good things from the folk at uni.
