No prizes for guessing the original function of this venue, one of Glasgow’s most versatile entertainment halls. Once a bustling market hall the Old Fruitmarket now plays host to vast array of events including theatre, concerts, comedy gigs, club nights, ceilidhs, fashion shows and banquets. Capacity is flexible and as unique as the building already is, the seating can be reconfigured depending on the event - it can hold 600 people theatre style and as many as 1200 for standing events. The building had kept its period charm with a lofty vaulted roof, spiral staircases up to the balcony and refurbished signs of the original greengrocers and merchants that occupied the market.

The Old Fruitmarket is a popular venue for several of Glasgow festivals including Celtic Connections, Glasgow International Jazz Festival and Merchant City Festival; not mentionting having hosted the prestigious BAFTA Scotland Awards in 2006.
