Whistlebinkies, Edinburgh

Everyone who's ever been to Edinburgh has had a memorable night out end up in 'Binkies (this may not be strictly true, but it's close enough).

And when a van pulls alongside the pavement in Edinburgh, and a load of guys all shout at you for directions, they're looking for 'Binkies (this is true, as in: fact).

'Binkies deserves its rarely spoken about but widely acknowledged status as an Edinburgh institution. They have live music every night; it's free entry (well, it's a couple of quid after midnight on the weeekends, but basically it's free entry); and it's open 'til 3am (5am during the Festival).
