The Hive
This famously unpretentious, dual-dancefloored Cowgate haunt is beloved by students and pretty young things alike. Open every night of the week, mixing up a rainbow spectrum-playlist of musical styles from electropop to indie hits, R'n'B to nu-metal, and a pinch of just about everything else in between (read: a hefty dose of cheesey pop). We'd also suggest making sure you've got your gladrags on, as the roaming Hive photographers are always on the hunt for happy clubbers to plaster across their Facebook site. Smile, a'body.

Add a comment »Hive inst bad but if its busy the narrow rooms and corridors get impossible to navigate and it gets unbearably hot early on.
I would recommend it during the week but try and avoid it at the weekend if you plan on staying all night.

Report to moderatorThe Hive is great, it's always got good nights on (every day of the week) and has a great atmosphere. Misfits and Bubblegum are two of the most popular nights in Edinburgh, for good reason.

Report to moderatorYou cant not have a good night out at The Hive, the music's ace, the drinks are cheap, personally I recommend the cocktails, and there's always a good fun friendly atmosphere. The bar staff are lovely and chatty as are the door staff. Generally never fails to please even the most difficult of customers.

Report to moderatorThe hive is always good for a laugh! No matter where we set out planning to go on a night out, 9/10 we will end up in hive. It doesn't take itself too seriously and theres a good friendly atmosphere in general. Having 2 dancefloors and 3 bars, theres always something decent on the go and it never takes too long to get served.

Big night out or out for a few drinks and a dance, Hive it is. Its always banter in Hive. Staff are awesome too, Especially the bouncers :)

Report to moderatorThere is no such word as 'Hiveness' and so it's hard to put a finger on exactly what it is that makes it such a good night out. The fact that the drink is cheap and the music is as varied as it is fun certainly helps, but that's not the whole deal. There's something of an atmosphere to the place that would be hard to replicate, the feeling of a small local still working side by side with the buzz of a night club.
Loads of themed nights for variety but regular DJ's and Staff making sure there's also consistency, and all with a completely no nonsense approach to trouble. Bar staff are quick and always fair. Nothing quite like it in town.

Report to moderatorWe're not spamming at all. We posted on our facebook page asking people to write what they thought about The Hive on a number of sites.. The Skinny being one of them. We don't need to drum up a crowd, we're capacity every Halloween as it is. Admittedly we didn't expect quite so many people to be as supportive of our request. Ultimately people will decide upon their first visit whether they like the place or not.

Report to moderatorLove hive on a wednesday night, themes are always great and everyone has a good laugh there. Tend to go most wednesdays, been a few fridays and a saturday as well and i've never really been disappointed with it. Great deals on drinks too.

Report to moderatorsince like my 18th birthday I haven't been able to go anywhere but hive. Hive is probably the most infectious and laid back club out there. The mixture of people and scene is one of the many reason why I go every single weekend. The music is perfect and the drinks are very cheap but the best thing about the hive is how relaxed they are but do it in a professional way. So try it and don't before you have.

Report to moderatorThe Hive is THEE place to be in Edinburgh. I'm here roughly once a week, sometimes even more! :D Always a right laugh in this place! I get a lot of stick for coming here each week from some of my mates, but I don't really care! Great atmosphere, great people, great staff and cheap drinks! The theme nights have gone down a storm! Definately one of the best clubs in Edinburgh, BY FARRR!! :) Try it out, you won't be disappointed! XD

Report to moderatorThe Hive is cheap. It's also really easy to feel comfortable in whether you're in heels or jeans and flats, I've never had a bad night there and I go a lot. It can get a little busy on Saturdays but Wednesdays with the theme nights and Fridays are amazing.
