Halt Bar
For anyone looking for a pint complete with live music, The Halt Bar gives just this, along with a slightly eccentric atmosphere, thanks to a very mixed crowd of enthusiastic regulars. The bar lends itself to an ‘old man’s pub’ aesthetic, perfect both for a quiet afternoon sipping beer and an intimate gig venue to check out Glasgow’s local bands. The Halt hosts a wide range of events, from free music mini festivals to open mic nights and charity fundraisers and perhaps more crucially, the juke box isn’t bad either.

Report to moderatorHad to ask the DJ last night if we could do a charity collection for the Japan disaster. Don't know if this was some sort of threat to his ego or something, but I've never had such an offensive response. A no would have been totally understandable. Instead, he made aggressive demands about what I was doing, concluding by telling me to say "n*gger, please". An arrogant and racist little man who seemed pretty confident with his sniggering mates at his back. If only I could speak up for his choice of music. Russ, I believe his name is.
