O2 Academy Glasgow

The O2 Academy, previously named the Carling Academy, is located in the South side of Glasgow. Housed in a former Art Deco cinema, it's arguably one Glasgow's best gig venues, partially due to the fact It offers the middle ground between intimate gig and stadium tour. Inside, the ornate architecture has been refurbished to its former glory and the layout of the building includes standing space in front of the stage and seating on the balcony. The large capacity of the venue allows for a bill of established acts, which has seen them host gigs for the likes of Blondie, Morrissey and Amy Winehouse.

But, pleasingly, the O2 Academy doesn't stick to one music genre, and instead offers a mix of rock, pop and dance gigs. It is also home to the notorious Club Noir, a live club night with DJs, live music and titillating burlesque performance that always sells out.
