Who says girls can't DJ? No one, that's who. Girls take over the clubbing scene in Scotland this week, with female-run nights hitting both Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Hotline returns to The Bongo Club in Edinburgh for its fourth outing on Saturday night, with DJ's Miss World, Frankie Elyse, Bob, Brown Widow and, the only male on the bill, Guised. Over in G-town on the same night, PUSH IT also returns for Pop Princesses III at Stereo, with DJ Vatsu and DJ Plaintinchipps on the decks.

Not stopping there, BOSSY take over The Mash House on 15 Nov for even more boss bitch behaviour. It's gonna get a little unruly.

Thundercat
O2 ABC, Glasgow. 14 Nov, 7pm
If there's one gig you have to catch this month, it's Thundercat. The bass extraordinaire's songs slap so hard you'll be left bruised. He got a five-star review from us back in March, and we described the affair as an "immersive eyes-locked-on-the-stage-but-feet-definitely-moving type of show". If that sounds like your kind of thing, then get ready to turn up. Image: Victoria Kovios

Sylvan Esso
SWG3, Glasgow. 12 Nov, 7pm
North Carolina-based Sylvan Esso are Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn, and they’re bloody great. If you need proof, just listen to their back catalogue and if you’re not dancing your butt off by the end, we’ll give you your money back (not really though). In all honesty, they’ve two excellently bleepy pop records under their belt, and they don’t play over here very often so check them out live while you can.

Dundee's jazz scene gets lit this week for the annual Dundee Jazz Festival, kicking off with The Average White Band lead singer Hamish Stuart at The Gardyne Theatre. We're also looking forward to a night of horns, funk breaks and mad lyricism from Dr Syntax-fronted collective The Mouse Outfit and luscious, haunting melodies from Becca Stevens.

Havana Glasgow Film Festival
Various venues, Glasgow. 9-12 Nov, times vary
Havana Glasgow Film Festival kicks off tonight, with a jam-packed programme of events in venues across the city, including CCA, GFT and GSA. While the festival exists to highlight the similarities between Havana and Glasgow, the screenings and events are also an opportunity for Scots to catch rare Cuban cinema screenings. What's more, there's also a series of Fiestas, with live Cuban bands and cocktails.

Artists' Moving Image Festival
Tramway, Glasgow. 11-12 Nov, times vary
Artists’ Moving Image Festival returns to Tramway for its sixth year, featuring a pick'n'mix of screenings, readings and workshops on a range of scintillating subject matters. There's everything from emotional labour to authenticity and authorship; interracial relationships to polyamory. Contributors include Mia Edelgart, Deirdre Humphrys, Alberta Whittle and Fiona Jardine.

Night Music: Slugabed
Sneaky Pete's, Edinburgh. 14 Nov, 9pm
Gregory Feldwick creates glitchy electronica, with hints of ambient, hip-hop, jazz and bass, that you can get up and down to under his moniker Slugabed. He takes his live show to Sneaky's on Tuesday, as part of their series of late live shows Night Music, and also stops in at The Hug and Pint in Glasgow on Wednesday. It's bound to be a belter.
