1. MUSIC | Limbo's 8th Birthday

Longstanding Edinburgh gig-in-a-club night Limbo celebrates its 8th birthday with a duo of party outings. First up, there's this weekend's Limbo 8th Birthday bash official in their regular digs of The Voodoo Rooms (joined by Tuff Love (pictured), Garden Of Elks, and Star Rover), before decamping to The Mash House on 28 November for a beefed-up outing headlined by Micah P Hinson and band, with support from Delta Mainline and Supermoon (full details on that here).
2. THEATRE | Chrysalis

Inaugural youth theatre festival Chrysalis brings together various companies from across the UK for a two-day celebration of original performance by talented young theatre companies, kicking off on the Friday with Glasgow's own Junction 25's i’d rather humble than hero, double billing with Liverpool company 20 Stories High's monologue-driven Headz (pictured). 3. FOOD & DRINK | Summerhall Beer FestivALE

Summerhall's Beer FestivALE (top marks for the punnage) returns for an autumn weekend-long celebration of the fine hoppy stuff – with highlights including Edinburgh home/shed-brewer Carbon Smith, relative newbies Usher's, and on-site brewer Barney's Beer, plus an all-new 'Collaboration Bar' featuring new brews available only at the festival, bolstered by a selection of spirits (gin! rum!), street food stalls, live music, brewery tours, and DJs 'til late.
4. FILM | French Film Festival

Making various stop-offs across Scotland (and the UK) this month, the French Film Festival UK returns to revel in its 23rd year – opening official at London's Ciné Lumière with Jerôme Bonnell’s sixth feature All About Them (pictured), a fun twist on a youthful menage à trios, which then tours to Edinburgh (6 November) and Glasgow (7 November), with the director in attendance for a Q&A quizzin'. 5. THEATRE | 15 Seconds

A highlight of the final days of Sonica fest, musician and sound artist Lauren Sarah Hayes presents her site-specific aural concert piece, 15 Seconds, in the Hamilton Mausoleum – making the most of the building having the longest echo in any man-made structure by forming music out of a relationship with the architecture of the building, complete with sonically responsive flash light bulbs. Fledgling Glasgow bespoke catering wizards Grano Coppa alight at The Rum Shack for their first community dining soiree, serving up a warming autumnal supper of homestyle Middle Eastern, Punjabi, and African cooking using local produce and grains. 7. COMEDY | Watch Bad Movies With Great Comedians

Returning for s'more mockery of a shit film of their choosing, comics Joe Heenan and Billy Kirkwood bring their Watch Bad Movies with Great Comedians fun night to Edinburgh for its debut, screening Jeremiah Chechik's reliably rubbish The Avengers (as in, not the Marvel one, but the Ralph-Fiennes-in-a-too-small-bowler-hat one), with the chaps providing laugh-along live commentary as they go.
8. THEATRE | Balladynas and Romances
Assembly Roxy, Edinburgh. 9 & 10 Nov, 7pm, £12 (£10) here

Adapted from the novel of the same name by controversial Polish writer Ignacy Karpowicz, The Pinocchio Theatre company (also from Poland) bring their adult puppet show adaptation of Balladynas and Romances to Edinburgh for a two-day run – a provocative tale of present-day Poland, where the gods of different religions resemble modern celebrities, enhanced by live projections and a bathtub that doubles as a sofa.
9. FASHION | Scotland Re:Designed Fashion and Accessories Runway
SWG3, Glasgow. 5 Nov, 6.30pm, £10 here

Since 2012, Scotland Re:Designed has been busily providing an international platform for the best o' the bunch of Scottish fashion talent, returning this November for their fourth annual runway show in arts hub SWG3 – featuring a showcase of panel-selected work by nine designers across womenswear, menswear, and accessories, before the all-important after-party and DJ action with the Thunder Disco Club crew.
10. THEATRE | Traverse Hothouse

Celebrating its longstanding role in the capital as a nurturer of new talent, the Traverse Theatre's homegrown theatre showcase returns, with this year's Traverse Hothouse featuring four selected companies sharing their latest creations at varying stages of development, including socio-political artist Heather Marshall's playful work-in-progress exploration of the things she does that 'waste her womb', Wasting My Womb (pictured).
