TeenCanteen Present... The Girl Effect #2
Mono, Glasgow. 26 Nov, 7.30pm

After the success of the first event back in May, all-girl pop kids on the block TeenCanteen host a second of their girl power takeovers – The Girl Effect #2 – inviting a bounty of musicians to cover girl groups past and present, with guests including Broken Records, Kathryn Joseph (pictured), BMX Bandits, Jo Mango, The Cairn String Quartet, Sharptooth, and more, plus TYCI DJs, a raffle, and the sparkly, sparkly joys of the 'glitter booth'. Raising funds for Scottish Women's Aid.

Youth Stand Up LP Launch
The Art School, Glasgow. 27 Nov, 10pm

Having recruited a total of 11 young musicians from Glasgow bands such as Golden Teacher (pictured), Whilst, and Psychic Soviets to work with seven young Ghanaian musicians and five young Belizian musicians, Green Door Studios unveil the fruits of the Youth Stand Up LP project at a special fundraiser night (raising pennies to help Tafi Atome village build its own recording studio), with guests including Golden Teacher, Sacred Paws, and DJ Twitch on decks. RSA Open 2015
Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh. Opens 28 Nov, Mon-Sun

The Royal Scottish Academy once again adorn the gallery walls with a vast and varied array of diminutive works for the annual RSA Open – a collective exhibition taking in over 350 small artworks (with a maximum size of 80cm in any direction) sourced by open submission from artists across Scotland and further afield (among them Glasgow-based artist Kirsty Whiten, pictured work). Expect the usual pick'n'mix wonderland ripe for your 'Dear Santa' list.

Limbo with Micah P Hinson + guests
The Mash House, Edinburgh. 28 Nov, 6.30pm

Longstanding Edinburgh gig-in-a-club night Limbo continues to spread its 8th birthday celebrations throughout the month, following its official birthday bash with a bumper-sized second outing – this time decamping to The Mash House for an off-site party headlined by Micah P Hinson, augmented by James Graham (of The Twilight Sad) and Delta Mainline (pictured) helping out on a number of tunes, with support from (again) Delta Mainline and Supermoon.

Book Yer Ane Fest IX
Buskers and The Vestry, Dundee. 27-29 Nov, 7pm

Dundee gets a look in this week, and rightly so, what with the racket that's set to emanate from Book Yer Ane Fest IX over the weekend – three head-pounding days of DIY punk, hardcore, and emo goodness, with live acts including The Murderburgers, Womps (pictured), Chrissy Barnacle, Billy Liar, and more. Plus, there's a Pre-BYAF at Glasgow's Nice 'n' Sleazy (26 Nov) and a Post-BYAF at Edinburgh's Banshee Labyrinth (30 Nov). Collect 'em all! (Image: Derek Robertson).

Substance Vs Pulse
The Bongo Club, Edinburgh. 27 Nov, 11pm

Following their 9th birthday bash last month (and indeed the highs of playing The Skinny's 10th just a few weeks later), the Substance crew tag-team with Pulse for a Substance Vs Pulse one-off special, welcoming Yorkshire-born percussive maestro Blawan (pictured) to the Bongo's lair for a guest set of his wandering electronic, with support from residents Gavin Richardson and Darrell Harding.

Circle Work
CCA, Glasgow. 30 Nov, 7.30pm

Glasgow-based visual artist Ruth Barker takes to the CCA to unveil her ambitious new performance piece – Circle Work – an immersive experience adopting the form of a provisional séance, layered with spoken word, installation, and costume elements, with this being your one-and-only chance to see it, being performed just once to an intimate audience of limited numbers (aka early booking advised).

Food To Go...
Project Ability, Glasgow. Opens 28 Nov, Tue-Sat

Offering a creative platform for artists of different lived experiences, Project Ability opens the doors for its annual fundraiser exhibition – Food To Go – showcasing saleable paintings, prints, ceramics, jewellery, textiles, and more, amassed from the gallery's Create, Aspire, and ReConnect workshops, alongside outside artist submissions. And the best bit? Every piece is themed around food, including Cameron Morgan's ceramic 'Scottish Breakfast' (pictured).

Glad Rags' Pre-Xmas Big Bad Sale
The Glad Cafe, Glasgow. 29 Nov, 6pm

With Christmas creeping up (it's officially less than a month away... panic!), not-for-profit thrift shop Glad Rags (pictured) – owned by the folks behind cultural haven The Glad Cafe – pitch up in big sister venue The Glad Cafe for a one-off shopping event they're calling the Glad Rags' Pre-Xmas Big Bad Sale, offering big discounts on their lovingly-curated selection of secondhand clothes, bric-a-brac, and vinyl. Y'know, cos #budgetxmas.

Tongues of Flame
The Art School, Glasgow. 1 Dec, 9pm

A selection of local artists present a special collection of musical, film, and sound performances marking World AIDS Day, including a screening of rare 1963 gem Flaming Creatures soundtracked by Ela Orleans (pictured) and her new electroacoustic project TRACT, plus live readings, performance, a 'supergroup' house band, DJ sets from Hush Puppy and Franz Ferdinand's Paul Thomson, and more, held together by MC Tam Dean Burn.
