Fri 2 Dec

The multi award-winning Katie Melua will be joined on stage by the mesmerising 23-piece Gori Women's Choir, masters of the ancient Georgian tradition of polyphonic singing. Together they’ll work through new material from Melua’s forthcoming recording project, along with a selection of classics from her six-album back catalogue. Bridgewater Hall, 7pm, £19.50-£37.50

Sun 4 Dec

A big bang of noisy-poppy-punk and grungey, riff laden slacker-rock, with hooks and tunes aplenty sound like how you want to end your week? Then get yourself down to see Slowcoaches as they hit the road for a UK tour in support of debut LP, Nothing Gives, out via Leisure & District on 2 Dec. Sound Control, 6.30pm, £9

Not enough that she kickstarted the riot grrrl movement as a member of Bikini Kill in the early 90s, nor that her feminist electro-pop outfit Le Tigre remain one of the most sorely missed bands of the early 2000s, Kathleen Hanna is now back with the mighty Julie Ruin – catch 'em playing pointed party anthems from this year's excellent Hit Reset LP. Gorilla, 7om, £15.40

Mon 5 Dec

Pep up your Monday with a smattering of pop rock fresh from the shores of Long Island, NYC, as The Lemon Twigs stop by The Deaf Institute for a Now Wave show in support of their debut album for 4AD, Do Hollywood. The Deaf Institute, 7pm, £7.50
