Footloose the Musical

Think Grease, Flashdance, Fame and Saturday Night fever - big musicals are always crowd pleasers, and Footloose the Musical is no different. As the popular pop-rock score explodes onto the stage, the audience know they are in for a theatrical delight. The plot follows the account of Chicago a city teen called Ren, superbly played and danced by Derek Hough, who ends up in a small Texas town in which dancing - along with just about anything else that is fun - is illegal. After finally settling in and making a few friends (and a few enemies), he decides it is time to fight the "law", in the form of Reverend Shaw, for the right to party. The music was already a hit, but the dance moves, choreographed by Olivier nominee Karen Bruce, are some of the most ambitious, energetic and well executed in recent musical theatre, and every cast member deserves tribute.
