Naruto Ultimate Ninja 2(Namco Bandai)

Definitely one for the fans

Game Review by Dave Cook | 07 Dec 2007
Naruto is the PS2's answer to Nintendo's Smash Bros. If this fast beat 'em up style doesn't instantly appeal to you then chances are you won't dig Ultimate Ninja 2. Based on the hit anime series, the story follows young ninja-in-training Naruto as he passes his ninja school exams and goes on a number of missions.

Graphically this is a stunner, squeezing power out of the console with its blend of cartoon cell shading and blistering speed. Fighting is simple with one-button attacks, special moves and numerous power-ups such as shurikens and smoke bombs. Fights are two dimensional and levels are littered with platforms and hazards that mix up each battle. Special moves start cartoon sequences that look like they were ripped straight from the cartoon.

If you love the show or Smash Bros then this is an essential purchase; if you haven't heard of either then this probably won't appeal. Definitely one for the fans. [Dave Cook]
