Jim Carrey says family is vitally important to him.

The 47-year-old is looking forward to becoming a grandfather for the first time when his 22-year-old daughter Jane, his child with ex-wife Melissa Womer, gives birth. He is also blissfully happy in his relationship with former Playboy model Jenny McCarthy, but has no plans to tie the knot again.

"The most important thing in my life is family, family, family," he said. "Jenny and I don't need a certificate to sanctify our relationship because we feel just great about what we are doing."

Jim added helping raise Jenny's seven-year-old son Evan, her child with ex-husband John Mallory Asher, has enriched his life. Evan is autistic, and Jim claims helping care for him helped him overcome depression.

Jim began suffering from the condition just before he hit the big time in 1994, and insists eating healthily and having a good family life helped him much more than prescription medication. "There's more light now," he said.

"I created tools to help my treatment and I went down a path with some amazing scientific minds who are using supplemental treatments for depression."

Jim can currently be seen in new animated movie A Christmas Carol, based on the Charles Dickens novel, in which he voices Scrooge.

"I'm so happy to have a beautiful family and to be able to sit there with Evan showing him clips of the movie," Jim told the Daily Mirror newspaper. "I took him through the scary parts and told him the ghost was coming and he loved it."
