Forest Fundraiser @ Pilrig Church, 3 Dec

Article by Jason Morton | 30 Nov 2010

A group of promoters and musicians from across disparate areas of the Edinburgh music scene and beyond will converge this Friday (3 Dec) for a charity gig at Pilrig Church in Leith.

With all proceeds going to the Forest Café, Aaron Wright & The Aprils, fresh out of the studio with Teenage Fanclub’s Frances MacDonald, will headline. Additional players include William Douglas, a staple of the alt-folk community in Edinburgh, Hailey Beavis, who evokes the finest of artists like Cat Power and Joanna Newsom, as well as Toby Mottershead, leader of the stompbox rock and blues outfit Black Diamond Express.

In addition, Finn Andrews of the Veils has been confirmed as taking the train up from London for an ultra-rare solo appearance for the mini-fest, which will also feature artist stalls and giveaways.

In what promises to be an event rife with musical collaboration between the artists, fans of the strong singer-songwriter community in Edinburgh would be amiss to give this a pass.

The Forest Café will also host a fundraising weekend from Thursday 9 to Sunday 12 December.
