The Imagineers - See As I Say

Single title: See As I Say
Artist: The Imagineers
Label: Self-Released
Release date: 1 April 2011

Glasgow 4-piece The Imagineers’ debut EP is nothing if not a promising start, an intriguing blend of 50s rock’n’roll, Scottish twang and cinematic flair. Imagineers holds in its heart a simple melody but, backed by some choice harmonising, it starts to take on a uniquely pleasing charm while Hour of Need, a gorgeously bass-heavy piece of New York rock nostalgia, provides the highlight of the collection.

There is the criticism that frontman Steven Young’s vocals can grate slightly, the chorus of Mariana leaving his drawl teetering on the edge of bearability, but considering the quirky ingenuity of the songwriting presented here, they definitely have the makings of an intriguing album nestling in their skulls.
