Husky Rescue - Diamonds in the Sky

a crystal-clear, near-literal example of the much-maligned 'chill out' genre

Single Review by Nick Mitchell | 13 Oct 2006
Single title: Diamonds in the Sky
Artist: Husky Rescue
Label: Catskills Records
Disappointingly perhaps, Husky Rescue is not the arctic circle dog-and-sleigh equivalent of our motorised emergency services, but an indie-electronica outfit from Finland. On the plus side, their music does conjure up images of typical husky dog habitat, all snowy and magical, like that creepy advert for Schnapps a few years ago. Sounding like Royksopp infused with crisp guitars, Diamonds in the Sky has nothing to do with LSD, but is a crystal-clear, near-literal example of the much-maligned 'chill out' genre. As a result, it veers dangerously close to MOR, but is just spiky enough to stay cool. [Nick Mitchell]
