DOOM - Gazzillion Ear EP

While 50 Cent endeavours to get rich or die tryin’, ol’ metal face Dumile doesn't set his sights so low and "won't stop rocking 'til he clocked in a gazzillion grand" over an archival beat from the late J Dilla. It’s typical DOOM – impeccable flow and thick with cartoon punchlines – but what would a great DOOM track be without a gazzillion unnecessary remixes? He might be a selling point, but Thom Yorke applies his usual incompetence, ruining DOOM's flow and inserts a soulless backing track, save for some nice ethereal vocals in the background. TV on The Radio’s Dave Sitek fares much better, rendering the track even funkier with some ace horn stabs. [Ali Maloney]
