Robots In Disguise - The Tears

Overhauls from Billion Dollar DJs and Skibunny up the tempo and manage to concoct dancefloor-fillers from meagre ingredients

A friend once sagely informed me that the only interesting thing about Robots In Disguise is that they played the Goths in the Mighty Boosh. They may be right: The Tears starts with what sounds like the echoing piano from The Flaming Lips’ What is the Light? then mews like a sexless answer to The Teenagers, lacking the sultriness or danceability needed to leave much impression. Remixes by Tim Burgess and I Haunt Wizards don’t remedy the situation, though overhauls from Billion Dollar DJs and Skibunny up the tempo and manage to concoct dancefloor-fillers from meagre ingredients.
