Nine Inch Nails - Survivalism

I've got my fist/ I've got my plan/ I've got survivalism yells Reznor, and on this evidence you'd be a fool to doubt him.

Single title: Survivalism
Artist: Nine Inch Nails
Label: Island
Ok, it sounds a lot like Wish, but as a radio-friendly appetiser for Reznor's forthcoming apocalyptic opus, Year Zero, Survivalism serves its purpose admirably. In line with NIN's new minimal aesthetic, the percussion sounds like it was lifted from a Detroit techno record, whilst the mutating electronics and subliminal vocal cutups pulse and stammer without detracting from the impact of Reznor's newly politicised lyrics. "I've got my fist/ I've got my plan/ I've got survivalism" he barks, and on this evidence you'd be a fool to doubt him. [Jay Shukla]
