Fhloston Paradigm is the newest alias of Philly producer King Britt, an alias that lets him showcase his love of pioneering the pioneering synth scores for movies like John Carpenter's Escape From New York, and the seminal Vangelis score for Bladerunner. This is a rich seam of synth-fetish, one recently getting a lot of attention from Hyperdub artists, and electronic musicians in general.

King Britt does an admirable job of evoking the classic era of synth production without sounding imitative: Chasing Rainbows stitches the descending minor-chord synth lines to syncopated, chopped rhythms, while The Chase features a wonderfully kamikaze drum pattern that lends shades of FlyLo to the miasma. When the Moroder-esque counter-melody intrudes, it does so in a freaked-out, nonlinear landscape. Everything is tied together with sinuous 303 bass. Liloo's Seduction, another nod to The Fifth Element, is a more ambient affair, with aquatic basslines tracking a beautiful synth melody. Superb stuff.
