Album title: Heart of Mine EP
Artist: Charlotte de Witte
Label: Suara
Release date: 9 Mar

Renowned for her dark and stripped-back brand of techno, Charlotte de Witte's new Heart of Mine EP continues these themes. Her love of all that is musically melancholy is cast over tracks Heart of Mine (Original Mix) and This (Original Mix).

A cavernous resonation of sound is produced on the former with blasting horns, while ghostly vocals permeate the dark atmospheric vibe of an essentially well-rounded piece of techno. The latter is a prime example of de Witte’s minimal, pounding techno, but it’s a track that could sadly be missed mid-set among other more memorable pieces.

Third and final track This (Lewis Fautzi Remix) is the EP's standout. With the focus on a rolling and pounding drum, it sits well against atmospheric synths giving a futuristic feel reminiscent of DJ Deus' Ex Machina. Charlotte de Witte is clearly a talented producer and this EP will do well in the techno charts, but sadly it doesn't feature some of her stronger work as recently featured in her Radio 1 Essential Mix.
