Kepler - Attic Salt

and there, just like that, easy as heartbreak, Kepler released the best album of their career

Album Review by Sean Michaels | 16 Apr 2006
Album title: 'Attic Salt' [Resonant]
Artist: Kepler
Label: Resonant
Kepler was on its last legs. After several records and world tours with the likes of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Samir Khan's group was dwindling. In 2003 the band's members were zipping off to other places and other projects. After the departure of drummer Jeremy Gara to the Arcade Fire, the shutters were almost drawn. But then Khan got his shit together. He gathered friends, wrote songs – and there, just like that, easy as heartbreak, Kepler released the best album of their career. At first I thought this was an album for hushed evenings and low volumes; but then I discovered it's a quiet album that's meant to be played loud, 'till the murmurs rattle your windows and the twining guitars rattle your bones. It's not a blanket to lie under: it's one to wrap yourself up in as you venture out into the noisy neon night. [Sean Michaels]
