How To Swim - The Littlest Orgasm

A wonderful blend of dementedly twisting country burlesque that froths with fervency and zeal.

To put it simply, if swimming was easy we wouldn't need lessons. Likewise, musicians who eagerly trade their armbands for more exotic waters tend to drown in an ocean of unfulfilled ambition. But with 'The Littlest Orgasm', How To Swim have taken to the musical deep-end like the proverbial fish. This delicious mini-album is a ramshackle mass of tantalising trumpets and glorious glockenspiels, cohesively directed by smouldering percussion and jagged riffs. A Little Orgasm of Disappointment is the debauched meeting of a Neutral Milk Hotel composition with Tom Waits' bar-room rambling while This Is The Way is a theatrical cabaret executed with Jack White grogginess. It is a wonderful blend of dementedly twisting country burlesque that froths with fervency and zeal. The only disappointment is that The Littlest Orgasm contains just 6 tracks – but if the full LP is this frantically melodic we will all be learning How To Swim. [Billy Hamilton]
