Say - Multiverse
The multiverse is a hypothetical set of alternative realities in which infinite versions of the same event are played out. The theory behind it says that when something happens in this life, all other multiple possibilities will happen simultaneously in parallel. Which is a roundabout way of saying that in a completely different universe, at the other end of the fabric of reality, somebody might listen to this album and think it was a good idea. In this boring old plane of existence, it simply sounds like a group of hippies bizarrely using Merseybeat instead of psy-trance to foist their outdated and comically improbable ideas on to an uncaring public. In 2009, we don’t need anyone telling us that “cosmic energy… is infinitely available to all. It will put an end to poverty, starvation and pollution.” If you believe in the third eye but hate third runways, this one’s for you. [Euan Ferguson]

Add a comment »Yeah... but what's the music like again? All i read here was some moaning and whining from someone who sounds like they need to start enjoying life a little bit instead of reviewing music they don't like. Pass it on to someone who does! I also thought that the Multiverse was multiple Universes... not multiple dimensions? Oh well- at least Euan Ferguson can be rest assured that he wasted yet MORE of his life on something he doesn't enjoy.

Report to moderatorWho will give me odds on:
a) Jay being in Multiverse
b) Jay's son being in Multiverse
c) Jay not really having all that much fun either...Anyone?

Report to moderatorHello Finbarr! I am indeed in this band and the reason i made a comment, was because the reviewer indicates a lot of things
that are misleading- he doesn't even give a web address, shops where you can get the album, links to it or anything!! So i'm going to do it instead so people can, for once, make up their own minds instead of listening to a pointless review:http://www.saytheband.co.uk
Let's keep things real eh? xxxxx

Report to moderatorIf you look to your right you'll see a link to the label. Can't say fairer than that.

Report to moderatorFair point Dave... but could I personally suggest that artists get fair reviews that actually talk about the music? I wouldn't normally go on about this but there are too many 'journalists' and 'critics' out there who do absolutely nothing for artists and the creations they are making... all i'm saying is- what's the point of a review if it's not a review?? Doesn't represent your mag very well... ;)

Report to moderatorI wasn't aware there was an agreement where journalists were meant to "do" anything for artists? Isn't that what your PR folk are for? The writer works for a reader not a band. Just because this isn’t a spruced up version of the press release and all the – undoubted – superlatives contained within it, doesn’t mean Euan’s review is invalid. Take the hit on this one Jay: whinging openly about a negative review doesn’t do you any favours.

Report to moderatorDoes it sound like i'm whinging about the review? I take the hit with open arms! That's not what i am discussing at all... It just fires up my passion when people out there who are supposed to be 'journalists' or 'reviewers' or 'critics' for supposedly professional magazines who are on the 'cutting edge', don't do any reviewing but merely use it as a forum to express what a bad life they have or what a bad day they are having.
But you know what they say- any publicity is good publicity... and this review has sparked some rather lengthy and lovely debate ;)
Thanks Euan xxx

Report to moderatorHello you lovely group of people.
Why don't we all stop this "fussing and a fighting" and just agree to disagree with one another. Its obvious that in this case that this is a clash of tastes and opinions which are all valid to each individual but that seem to be taken as attacks to the ego. I can see the fun in a friendly debate but (i feel) this "discussion" is nothing beneficial to those concerned.Lets all just remember that a review is nothing but an opinion of one critique that if you consider yourself to be a true music fan you'd see past and "review" the music in question for yourself... unless if you're a trend following, single line walking sheep ;)
Euan obviously didn't like SAY's new (amazing) album MULTIVERSE... but that doesn't mean that you wont either.
Stay open and follow no-bodys thoughts or feelings but your own.
Lots of love

Report to moderatorSo does that mean you have to listen to absolutely everything in order to be a "true music fan"? If that were the case, what would be the point in music reviews?
Posted by | Friday February 2009 @ 09:10
Report to moderatorI didn't know people still took inspiration from Geocities for their album sleeves.

Report to moderatorHey finbarr,
No my friend that is not what i'm trying to say at all. Anyone who loves music no matter the quantity of which they listen to is obviously still a music fan...i guess what i'm trying to say in a roundabout way is that i feel that if you are to give a "review" of a band then thats fine... but review the music rather than the CD cover or even the definition of the albums title.. that'd be a good place to start don't you think?
And that is a great question indeed! What is the point in music reviews?
I have no answer for such a question.Stay happy
