The Butterfly Effect - Final Conversation of Kings

Album Review by Joe Barton | 20 May 2009
Album title: Final Conversation of Kings
Artist: The Butterfly Effect
Label: Modern Music
Release date: 27 Apr

Australia’s premier stadium band, The Butterfly Effect, have yet to have the same devastating effect on the UK charts, but Final Conversation of Kings could contain the opening salvo of world domination. This is arena-filling pop rock, and there are plenty of instances of colossal power chords, and even bigger hooks. Opener World on Fire soon bursts into an inferno of distortion, and tracks like The Way boast weighty guitar solos to further stoke the fiery passion of the band’s music. Perhaps a useful comparison is Biffy Clyro; on songs like In These Hands, there’s a similarly powerful mix of post-rock structures and radio-friendly melodies, and the frantic riffery of first single Window and the Watcher is as intense as any of Simon Neil and Co’s output. The production is squeaky clean, and tempts the listener to check out their live show, which, based on this album, promises to be an epic affair.
