Single title: Techno Playtime
Artist: The Black Dog
Label: Soma

With one listen to Techno Playtime, it's not hard to see why The Black Dog are regarded as the forefathers of British techno. This is a remastered re-release of the act's second ever EP of the same name. These tracks also featured on the Book of Dogma double album released two months ago. Melding elements of techno, hip-hop and electro together into many a pleasing shape, the EP doesn't disappoint and each track has something very unique to offer. From the opening and the title track to It Felt Like It, which has a distinct hint of Future Sound of London circa Lifeforms (1994), the release sucks you right in from the word go. A must have for lovers of ambient yet intimate dance music. [Natalie Doyle]
