Corrine Bailey Rae - I'd Like To

almost enough to persuade James Brown to come out of mortal retirement for one last dance

Single Review by Joe Lewis | 10 Feb 2007
Single title: I'd Like To
Artist: Corrine Bailey Rae
Label: EMI
With funky horns, warm watery organs, the occasional strategically placed crunch of guitar and relaxed, carefree, seductive vocals, it's almost enough to persuade James Brown to come out of mortal retirement for one last dance. With this single, Corrine Bailey Rae builds on her immense success last year and has come up with an almost perfect, intelligent pop record. It has been too long since the UK last produced a solo female talent to rival its US counterparts, but going on 'I'd Like To', the wait may finally be over. [Joe Lewis]
