Spider Simpson - Heavy Metal Machine

The fact that Spider Simpson fit so much plagiarism into one coherent song is an achievement in itself.

Single title: Heavy Metal Machine
Artist: Spider Simpson
Label: Rampant
Heavy Metal Machine' introduces itself by sounding like Bono singing 'Last Night' by The Stokes. After 30 seconds or so, it explodes into an amalgam of Stereophonics and Rocket From The Crypt, with some sleaze-tinted soloing in the background just for good measure. Even managing to borrow the breakdown from Foo Fighter's 'One By One', the fact that Spider Simpson fit so much plagiarism into one coherent song is an achievement in itself. Fun and just a little tongue-in-cheek, 'Heavy Metal Machine' is the ultimate flattery to those who influenced it so fundamentally. [Neil Ferguson]
