Little Barrie - Pin That Badge

A mangled disparity of style.

Single title: Pin That Badge
Artist: Little Barrie
Label: Genuine
Released as a two-song preview to their forthcoming album Stand Your Ground, Little Barrie's 'Pin That Badge' EP is presented with a mangled disparity of style. Opener, 'Pin That Badge' is a lesson in tight rhythms, wah-guitar and silky smooth vocals, all wrapped up in a jazz-funk-thing bundle. 'Green Eyed Fool', on the other hand, is a warped melee of crackling old rockabilly, with an abundance of neoteric blues riffing and a country twist. Tight, sharp and together, 'Pin That Badge' is a brief flirtation of confidence, musical aplomb and just not giving a toss about the furrows of fashion. [Neil Ferguson]
