Dirty Fuzz - Tell Your Mama

a mediocre rocker is reduced to a passionless parody

Single Review by Gareth K Vile | 10 Feb 2007
Single title: Tell Your Mama
Artist: Dirty Fuzz
Label: Self Released
Dirty Fuzz resuscitate dirty blues rock: the heavy guitar intro announces yet another re-imagining of Zeppelin or The Who. Unlike, for example, the Gossip, who add political radicalism and lo-fi aggression to the formula, or the psychedelic underground which exults in stretching the form into improvised absurdity, Dirty Fuzz have little new to say. The lyrics are trite and Elida's voice lacks soul and power. By repeating the chorus ad nauseam and descending into a version of 'Sympathy for the Devil', a mediocre rocker is reduced to a passionless parody: best avoided. [Gareth K Vile]
