The same approach might not work when Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford are reunited for another Indiana Jones, but Little Green Machine show that combining two ingredients well past their best-before date can have exhilarating results. Taking the songwriting and arrangements from indie rock and applying them to the raucous sludge bounce of grunge, they sound exactly like Therapy? might sound now if they hadn't grown old and soft. This Edinburgh three-piece know exactly how to rock a song – when to drop some nice harmonies, when to crank up the distortion and when to sing the blues (waiting for a bus in the rain seems a perfect time). There's enough energy, angst and humour, party and pathos to make even jaded haters dance like crazy. [Ali Maloney]
