Mudhoney @ HMV Picture House, 9 Oct
Published 17 September 2009
Way back when, Mudhoney were big, loud cornerstones of the Seattle grunge scene. While they’ve subsequently lost the limelight, they’ve maintained a level of raucousness throughout their twenty-one years that, longstanding éclat aside, makes this show a hot ticket. As time continues its onward march, they’ve seen their reputation calcify without having to adopt the sophisticated ‘maturity’ mantle that has blighted erstwhile contemporaries like Vedder or Cornell. So while Touch Me I’m Sick might be more likely an instruction to a chiropractor than a statement of moral decay these days, they still promise to make a grand old noise.
