Subcity Radio: September Selectors

Article by Subcity Radio | 02 Sep 2016

University of Glasgow's Subcity DJs pick three tracks from Glasgow-based bands and producers to see in the new semester

National Handbag – Leatherette (Domestic Exile)
National Handbag sprawls over seven minutes, with demonic pomp and understated brutality. The dark and brooding vocals echo mysteriously over a skronky, minimal groove; happy at the club or for the comedown.

Horses on Morphine – Lush Purr (Fuzzkill Records)
From their new album Cuckoo Waltz, this gem encapsulates the band's outstanding combination of dreamy nostalgia and ecstatic energy. Catch their fuzzy pop bangers at the Freakender festival, 18 Sep @ The Old Hairdressers.

Glasz – Lanark Artefax (UIQ)
The Glaswegian producer's new EP explores the rhythmic patterns of experimental IDM, deconstructing the tracks into physical spaces. A sparse, controlled sound both shrewdly fragmented and fascinatingly elastic.
