Track Premiere: Django Django vs The Phantom Band – 'Shake and Tremble'

The Phantom Band premiere their twist on Django Django's 'Shake and Tremble', from their latest album Born Under Saturn

Glasgow avant-rock sextet The Phantom Band present this house-infused twist on 'Shake and Tremble' by long-term associates Django Django, the original version of which appeared on the latter's recently released second LP, Born Under Saturn

Unveiling the remix, Djangos's drummer Dave Maclean reveals the origins of their alliance: "Andy 'Earth-quake' Wake was in my first band 'pea soup', who had a career spanning about four days in the summer of 1987. I was seven, Andy nine. My best friend and next door neighbour, he took more of a back seat management role in proceedings. Kitted out in matching Scotland football shell suits and the Fife standard 'wedge' hair cut, we finally found our feet when we formed our hardcore Techno DJ double act, 'Dangles and Schmooze'.

"Our second musical collaboration cut to wax since them heady days (he remixed 'Storm' for our Hi Djinx remix lp) , Andy can now be found lurking behind a leaning tower of ancient synths as The Phantom Band's in-house squelch and bleeps provider. Here he's donned his production hard hat and hi-vis jacket for this twisty turny rework of 'Shake and Tremble'."

The Djangos play what will be their biggest headlining Scottish show to date this December at Glasgow Barrowlands, with Liverpudlian psychedelicists Stealing Sheep, RM Hubbert and the Phantoms' Andy Wake in tow as DJ.
