Back in 2015, Michael Pedersen and Kevin Williamson took their Neu! Reekie! bandwagon of spoken word, film, music and art on an extensive tour of Scotland. Anywhere But the Cities took in 17 shows across the length and breadth of the country, with the crew joined by the likes of Hollie McNish, Aidan Moffat, Stanley Odd and Liz Lochhead. Now Williamson and Pedersen are returning to the northeast town of Stonehaven for a show that aims to ignite the creative arts at the scene of one of N!R!'s favourite stops on that tour.

Teaming up with Culture Shock Scotland, Neu! Stoney brings together a typically eclectic selection of music and spoken word. It's headed up by Kathryn Joseph – the supremely atmospheric Scottish Album of the Year winner and one-third of Out Lines – alongside a solo set from Aberdeen songwriter Katie Buchan, aka Best Girl Athlete. Aberdeenshire publisher Tapsalteerie Press are represented by poets Russell Jones and Sarah Stewart, with Pedersen and Williamson managing proceedings and more acts to be announced.

Introducing the show, Neu! Reekie!'s Michael Pedersen says: "We’ve built a line-up that includes local lustre / emerging talent / some of Scotland’s boldest and brightest from poetry, publishing and music-making. Stonehaven Town Hall is a cracker of a venue and fit for purpose with all these sublimes slices coming its way."

Neu! Stoney takes place at Stonehaven Town Hall, 11 May, 7.30pm; tickets via neustonehaven.bpt.me
