The talented family affair Haim are back after four years with second album Something to Tell You, due for release on 7 Jul, and they’ve shown good taste in their choice of filmmaker to direct the video for Right Now, the first single off the new record.

P.T. Anderson is best known for features like Magnolia, Inherent Vice and The Master, but he’s no stranger to the art of the music video, having directed several for Fiona Apple, Joanna Newsom and Radiohead, including last year’s Present Tense.

Like the video for Present Tense, Anderson showcases the new Haim cut by simply capturing the band perform it. In this case, it shows the three sisters playing a stonking version of Right Now live in the studio as a camera slowly tracks through the instruments in one long take. It’s a fantastically straight-forward idea that captures the band’s skill as musicians as they build the song, adding elements one by one and switching between various instruments. "That's how you fucking do it," we hear one of the sisters say as the song comes to an end. Too right, it is.

Watch the video in the player above; Haim's new album Something to Tell You is out on 7 July.
