Glasgow bands team up on Glasgow Nights charity LP

Glasgow Nights, a new compilation album, brings together a who’s who great Glasgow bands on one record in aid of charity Money Advice Scotland.

One of the bands contributing to Glasgow Nights are Mogwai. “We're really happy to donate a track to support Money Advice Scotland who work to improve the financial well-being of the people of Scotland,” said the much-loved Glaswegian band. The track they've donated is Eternal Panther, a B-side that appeared with single Party in the Dark, taken from 2017’s Every Country’s Sun.

Eternal Panther kicks off Glasgow Nights in raucous style, with other tracks coming from an eclectic mix of bands based in the city. Newbies Hairband – made up of members from Spinning Coin, Lush Purr and Breakfast Muff – provide a brand new song called Flying, while Sacred Paws have donated Wet Graffiti from their SAY Award-winning debut album Strike a Match.

Glasgow stalwarts The Pastels have offered a UK exclusive in the form of Boats, their Japanese only bonus track from 2013's Slow Summits. Spinning Coin donate another exclusive with Never Ends, taken from Edwyn Collins’ recording sessions for the band's album Permo. And Roddy Hart & the Lonesome Fire provide Kingdom Over Again, a previously unreleased outtake taken from the album Swithering.

Other bands appearing on Glasgow Nights include Franz Ferdinand, Errors, Out Lines, LYLO, RM Hubbert and Marnie. Also included on the album are two iconic theme tunes from Scottish TV and film: Mike Moran's No Mean City intro to quintessential Glasgow crime drama Taggart, and Colin Tully's toe-tapping sax score from Bill Forsyth’s whimsical teen comedy Gregory’s Girl.

All proceeds go to Money Advice Scotland, an anti-poverty charity who work to improve the financial health of the people of Scotland via their helpline and education services.
