Fair Mothers – What Have I Done (feat. Kathryn Joseph): Track Premiere

Listen to the captivating new single from Aberdeen-based Fair Mothers, featuring Kathryn Joseph

Feature by Music Team | 20 Oct 2016

Based in Aberdeen, Fair Mothers is the principle creative outlet for the beautifully poignant and honest folk music of singer-songwriter Kevin Allan. What Have I Done features guest vocals from 2015 SAY Award winner Kathryn Joseph, and is the second single to be taken from the beautiful debut album, Through Them Fingers Yours and Mine.

We asked Allan how Joseph became involved with Fair Mothers: “Kathryn's been a friend for years. I played it [What Have I Done] for her just one time before she sang it, and she instantly got it. She knew precisely, and instinctively, what to sing with me and how it should be harmonised. We never really talked about it, but I think she must be the voice of my conscience, coming through into the song. Or at least, that's how I imagine it.”

The album is set for release via Fox Food Records on Friday 11 November, and will be available as a digital release and as a limited edition vinyl. It was recorded and produced at the Diving Bell Lounge in Glasgow's East End, by Marcus Mackay (Frightened Rabbit, Snow Patrol, Trembling Bells, Kathryn Joseph).

Through Them Fingers Yours and Mine is released via Fox Food Records on 11 Nov, and is available to pre-order on bandcamp
