SWANES – Average Bear (Video Premiere)

Watch the animated video for Average Bear by Canadian futurists SWANES

Michael and Stefan Gallaugher make up Canadian duo SWANES. While growing up in Southern Ontario the Gallaugher brothers (we know, we know) outfitted various solo and group projects eventually deciding to simplify the equation to a form a duo. They moved to Toronto to write and produce their debut EP, Biota. The band cite sci-fi, futurism, Kurt Vonnegut and The Lion King soundtrack as shared influences.

We’re delighted to be premiering the music video for Average Bear – which you can watch in the player above – created by Jason Harvey (who directed the equally-creepy animated video for Rock and Roll Night Club by Mac DeMarco). "I guess you could say it's a lighthearted braggadocious song about finding self-empowerment when you're feeling underappreciated,” the duo tell us by email. “We wanted the video to reflect that 9-5 feeling of limitation and how sometimes the only way out is escaping into your head – with a twist of lime and a hit of DMT."

Biota is released on 2 Jun and available to pre-order on SWANES' Bandcamp page
