Record Store Day returns next month, with hundreds of exclusive and unusual records to be found at stores across the UK and beyond. One such record comes from Public Service Broadcasting, who are dropping an exclusive 12'' vinyl edition of new single People Will Always Need Coal, from their astonishing third album Every Valley. The six-track single features Dark Sky's remix of Progress, Plaid and Nabihah Iqbal's reworkings of They Gave Me A Lamp, and a pair of remixes of the new single by Vessels and multinational psych outfit Flamingods.

We're delighted to be able to share an exclusive premiere of Flamingods' remix of People Will Always Need Coal. The track takes the motorik grooves of J. Willgoose and co's original, inspired by archive footage of training and promotional videos aimed at attracting young people to Welsh coal mining, and adds the funk and psych flavour that have made Flamingods such a hit on the live circuit in recent years. The result is a pulsating jam layered with synths and packed with energy – take a listen in the Soundcloud player below.

Introducing the remix, Public Service Broadcasting's J. Willgoose says: "Flamingods are definitely one of the more interesting bands to emerge over the past few years and we were excited to see how their blend of psychedelia and dance would affect this mix. It's always interesting hearing how other artists will reinterpret your work and this mix is no exception."

The People Will Always Need Coal single is out on Record Store Day, 21 Apr, available from indie record stores across the country. Public Service Broadcasting's UK tour kicks off on 5 Apr, with dates at Liverpool Olympia on 12 Apr and Usher Hall, Edinburgh on 14 Apr; read the full list of tour dates below, and scroll on to read our review of the album and chat with Wilgoose on the origins of the Every Valley album.
